Dr. Marlou Slot is a Quantum Materials Physicist at the
National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA. Atom by atom and layer by layer, she experimentally realizes novel electronic quantum matter — from fractals to moiré materials. She unravels the exotic properties of the designer matter with atomic resolution at mK temperatures.
To train the global quantum workforce and bring more talented women to this domain, Marlou organized the
Global Quantum & Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with
Womanium, a DC-based foundation advancing women in STEM+E. The extensive program brought together CEOs, scientists and leaders from the quantum field to train more than 1,200 people in its first year, including 45% women, in quantum computing hardware, software, and applications.
Marlou completed her PhD with highest distinction at Utrecht University (NL) focusing on analogue electronic quantum simulation. She was awarded the prestigious Rubicon grant from the Dutch Research Council for her ongoing research
